Perspective

"Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world. Same world."
~ Wayne W. Dyer ~

It’s all about perspective, isn’t it. It’s about what we see not what others see. I took a course in psychology years ago and there was a picture in a book that has always stuck with me. Depending on where you focus, it either looks like a beautiful woman or an old hag. Are you familiar with it?  Try to find both women.

If you see a beautiful woman, you’re right!  If you see an old hag, you’re right!  But how can this be?  It’s only one image, isn’t it?  It’s where you put your focus that matters.  If you want to see the beautiful woman, you need to stay focused on a certain spot on the picture.  If you want to see the old hag, same thing.  Where you place your focus, that’s what you’ll see.

You can apply this exercise to your life, people you know, situations, etc. You can focus on the positive aspects of people, situations, etc., or the negative.  The beauty of it is that the choice is yours.

This picture has also stuck with me since childhood...seems i remember when my mom first showed it to me. It is all about perspective indeed. And here is the thing as Joseph Campbell states in A Hero with a Thousand Faces, its all real! He can be seen live on youtube in some short clips talking about this and mythology. Stories. What is the story you tell yourself? I tell myself? We feel is the story others have of us? Erase all that. Myth is simply and always has been to establish the psychological base of moral codes, art, religion etc. Myth is always useful always has been. We TELL ourselves stories. What we see is this. What we heard was that. NO. That is your perspective. (For this comment purpose think of that not specifically Zeus etc. ) Do you want more peace, change what you see. ONLY birth can conquer death-the birth, not of the old thing again, but of something new. By seeing things new, just accepting, not labeling, not judging in your mind, just seeing, being, accepting in the moment, we call all become one people......understand and love one another more, and understand ourselves and accept ourselves more by knowing "we tell ourselves a story" Just a thought..................

Thanks Michelle! I'll have to check Campbell out. His message sounds a lot like Eckhart Tolle who, as you know, I like a lot!
